FCSS has partnered up with the Lloydminster Learning Council to host a FREE afternoon of education and awareness for our community's seniors! Come connect with over 15 senior-focused committees and organizations presenting topics relating to safety, health, recreation, housing and more at the Legacy Centre!
Enjoy complimentary refreshments and live music from local country singer Kenny Mac while learning about senior rescources and supports in the community.
This is a drop-in event with doorprizes available.
Proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test is required and masks must be worn inside.
Some of the organizations you can expect to see include:
Lloydminster Interval Home: find information on their programs and services with a special focus on their Supports for Older Adults and Living Well Programs. They will share information on initiating conversations about Elder Abuse and have information available on Elder Abuse and promotional items available to take home.
Catholic Social Services: they will be eagerly awaiting the opportunity to share information regarding the Personal Enrichment Program & The Senior Connections Program. They will be answering any questions pertaining to services and social interaction development throughout Lloydminster that any Senior can be part of and connecting them to volunteerism.
Lloydminster Senior Citizen's Society: will promote their Community Income Tax Program which provides free tax preparation enabling low income earners the financial benefits of which they are entitled.
Servus Sports Centre: will have information on Fitness Programs and drop-in program information.
Lloydminster Concerned Citizens for Senior Care Society: will have information about the various healthcare issues here in Lloydminster, with an emphasis on seniors' issues, and how they have helped and advocated for solutions in the past. They will also be recruiting new members.
Lloydminster Learning Council: will promote opportunities available such as being a volunteer tutor to an English Language Learning student or to register for the LLCA’s Technology for Seniors class!
The Olive Tree: will be letting seniors know about their seniors luncheon, seniors friendly food hampers, services to the seniors complexes and volunteer opportunities.
D&A Optometry: will be discussing the importance of annual eye exams for seniors to evaluate for common age-related eye problems such as cataracts, glaucoma and macular degeneration. They hope to personally meet the seniors of Lloydminster and will be open to any questions relating to their eye health and vision.
